How to Shine - Our deepest fear by Marianne Williamson

Shine, you might as well

Overcoming fear

When I started my therapeutic counselling training in 2005 we were given folders filled with some of the materials we would need. The front page of the folder had this from author and spiritual leader Marianne Williamson written on it.
At the time, I had just embarked on something I had wanted to do throughout my twenties but never found the courage. I was scared, but I signed up for the three year counselling training anyway.
Something shifted in me after a series of difficult experiences, and I felt I had little to loose. I wish I had been braver earlier, but better late than never.

The same thing happened when I started my creative business, and to be honest, I feel fear now , starting this website. The calling is strong and I am following it.

I still read these words regularly, and they still inspire me as much as they did the first time.

These glorious inspirational words encapsulate so much truth. What would happen if you were to break away from the mould?

Imagine what could happen if you actually overcome fear and dared to follow your dreams, even if it is slowly, and steadily. What would happen if you shed your skin, and were truly yourself?

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
